Nashville Drummer Willie Ackerman Dies at 73
Huffington Post reports that Nashville drummer Willie Ackerman died on Thursday at the age of 73.
Willie was a professional musician for most of his life and had played with the likes of Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson and Louis Armstrong. He was a staff drummer at Grand Ole Opry and was on the well-known tracks “El Paso” and “Wings of a Dove.”
More recently, Willie played with Patsy Cline, George Jones, Waylon Jennings and Chet Atkins. His memorial will be held on Monday, Dec. 17.
Rest in peace, Willie.
