Pippa Middleton may be hailed Stateside as fashion’s next best thing, but across the pond in not-so-jolly old England, she’s catching heaps of flack for her upcoming book about how to plan the perfect party.
Pippa, who’s in talks with publishers to ink a £1 million ($1.5 million) deal, is set to cobble what she’s learned from working in PR and for her parents’ mail-order party shop, Party Pieces, into a helpful guide. The problem? Britain is on the brink of a recession, and unemployment is at a 17-year high. Pip may be ready to party like it’s 2011, but the country isn’t ready to party with her.
The Guardian and the Daily Mail have both published fake, tongue-in-cheek excerpts from the book — and neither is terribly flattering. While Pippa’s not pulling a Fergie and hawking access to the royal family for hundreds of thousands of dollars, she’s not making friends by cashing in on her connection to Britain’s elite. Is the future Queen’s stylin’ sis poised to go from royally loved to royally hated?
