Rapper Nas Paints at Art Basel Miami — and Sells His Work for $14,000!
Hip-hop superstar Nas is famous for many things — being named one of MTV's all-time greatest rappers, his thorny relationship with R&B songbird Kelis, and a long-running feud with Jay-Z — but he can now add another item to his already-impressive CV: Apparently, he's a brilliant visual artist, too!
At Art Basel in Miami Beach last week, Nas was performing at Perrier & Spotify's "Music Loves Art" party at Ricochet Lounge longside fellow rapper Theophilus London. While performing his single, "Made You Look," Nas grabbed a paintbrush and painted some brushstrokes on a blank easel. Apparently, guests at the event were impressed by his artistic prowess — the piece was eventually auctioned off for $14,000, with proceeds going to benefit charity.
As with many of music's biggest stars, Nas proves to be multi-talented. Should he decide that he's tired of the music game for awhile, a future wearing a beret and getting into some Jackson Pollack splatter-painting could be just the thing to keep his name in lights!
