Tom Cruise Shops For Homes in New York in Order to Stay Close to Suri: Report

If Tom Cruise has his way, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise won’t be the only new New Yorkers hanging around the Big Apple.

In order to stay close to his daughter, who is now enrolled in school in the city, the actor is reportedly shopping around New York City and its surrounding suburbs for a home of his own.

“He’s looking for something that’s very private,” a source told the New York Post. “Where he won’t have to deal with going through a lobby, and people outside all the time.”

Apparently not wanting to dig up old memories, the A-lister has steered clear of the apartment he once shared with Katie in the East Village and is now moving on to bigger and better real estate. 

“He... wants to have a nice amount of space for Suri, with outdoor space,” the source said. “That could mean high-end luxury apartments, but he’s also looking at houses outside of the city or in gated communities.”

Whether Tom ends up in a swanky Manhattan apartment or a Greenwich, Conn., mega-home, one thing’s for sure: the eccentric father will be spending much more time on the East Coast.

Tom wants to “be an active parent,” the source said. “So, New York, get ready for a lot more Tom.”
