Hollywood "It" couple Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have been caught on camera in various states of canoodling, from the set of The Place Beyond the Pines to Paris. And, while they're undoubtedly adorable together, they couldn't be more different — when it comes to their opinions on romance, that is.

In a recent interview with Allure, Eva revealed her thoughts on love, art, travel, and other passionate pursuits.

"There's this incredible, incredible book, A Literate Passion," she spilled. "It's the letters between Anais Nin and Henry Miller. They're the most beautiful, sexual, romantic — they were firing on all cylinders. These letters are like poems. You know when you're witnessing two people meeting their match? You're going 'Oh man, this is it.'"

But romance isn’t just about words for Eva. The stunning actress is also a sucker for Italy's Eternal City, Rome. For her, the sexually-charged past and time-travel inspiring present make it a very sensual place. “I find history sexy," she explained. “I like being able to be in the city and imagine it being 200 years ago."

And then we have Ryan. (Ah, Ryan. Delicious, handsome, chiseled Ryan.) What does it take to steal his heart? Well, let's just say it has little to do with the arts. While promoting the uber-romantic drama The Notebook back in 2004, Ryan toldAbout.com that his idea of romance entails an abundance of food, followed by a session of heavy petting.

"If I eat a huge meal and I can get the girl to rub my belly... that's about as romantic as I can think of,” he revealed.

As much as it pains us to see him with someone else, we hope that Ryan read Eva's interview in Allure and has already booked two first-class tickets to Rome. With its delicious food and seductive past, their opportunities for romance will be endless!
