Say WHAT?! Charlize Theron Didn’t Have Teeth Until She Was 11

The idea of Charlize Theron not looking absolutely stunning is almost impossible for us to imagine, but the South African actress insists that such a time did exist.

In an interview with The Sun, the model-turned-actress revealed that she “had no teeth until [she] was 11.” That’s right: 11! As in, years old! Poor Charlize had jaundice as a youngster, and the medicine they treated her with caused her teeth to rot.

“They had to cut them out,” she explained. “It was hideous.” Not surprisingly, it wasn’t easy to be the toothless kid in school. “My childhood was quite devastating,” she added.

Luckily, things have turned around for Charlize. Not only is she one of the most gorgeous women in the world, she’s an Academy Award winner currently starring as the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman, alongside Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart. Best of all? She recently adopted her first child!

Yeah, we think she turned out alright.
