The fourth time was not the charm for Ahmad Rashad.
The 63-year-old sportscaster and wife Sale Johnson have officially confirmed that they are ending their marriage, according to People.
The couple married in 2007, and they had been caring for the child Sale's daughter from a previous marriage, Casey Johnson, had adopted. Casey tragically passed away due to complications from insulin in 2010.
There have been rumors that Ahmad and Sale's split has gotten contentious, but the couple denies this.
"This process, while difficult, is and has always been amicable — despite erroneous press reports to the contrary — and we remain committed to jointly raising our daughter," according to the couple.
"We appreciate the respect of our privacy during this trying time," they continue.
This is Ahmad's fourth divorce. The former NFL player got divorced from The Cosby Show's Phylicia Rashad in 2001.
Sale was previously married to Johnson & Johnson billionaire Woody Johnson. Casey is Sale's daughter from that marriage.
We wish the couple all the best during this tough time.
