Susan Boyle Movie in the Works, Based on the "I Dreamed a Dream" Superstar's Life
The story of Susan Boyle — the British singing sensation whose version of "I Dreamed a Dream" stunned appearance-obsessed critics on Britain's Got Talent in 2009 — continues to prove inspirational.
The 51-year-old Scot is the subject of a successful musical touring Europe and Australia called I Dreamed a Dream, and news broke today (November 23) that Fox Searchlight is adapting the musical into a big-screen movie. Fox exec Lucas Webb, who's responsible for the acquisition for Susan's life rights, told Deadline he wanted to make a "sensitive and honest biopic infused with music."
The musical tracks Susan's life from her childhood in working-class Scotland to her rise to (and complications from) international superstardom.
No word on who will write, direct, or star in the movie; but we at least have one good idea for the soundtrack artist!
