It seems this “Fearless” singer’s bets have paid off.

Though Taylor Swift’s breakout came with her debut album a few years ago, her release of Speak Now in October 2010 took the country singer to a new level of mega-stardom.

Taylor’s Speak Now World Tour ran through almost all of 2011 (including two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden) and started back up again this month in Australia after a photo shoot with Harper’s Bazaar Australia.

Her album sales combined with her proceeds from touring and songwriting royalties (Taylor wrote all 14 songs herself) earned her the top spot on Billboard’s “Money Makers of 2012” list. The music magazine estimated that Taylor earned $35,719,902 in 2012 — more than $3 million more than U2, who came in second on the list.

In the top five spots were:
1. Taylor Swift ($35,719,902)
2. U2 ($32,116,315)
3. Kenny Chesney ($29,837,103)
4. Lady Gaga ($25,353,039)
5. Lil Wayne ($23,178,722)
