It doesn't seem like it should cost anywhere near $121,000 to file a restraining order, but Britney Spears's conservators argue that her former manager, Sam Lutfi, owes them that amount in legal fees for the work it took to keep him away from Brit.
According to court documents filed by the pop star's camp, and obtained by RadarOnline, "Although the requested fees and costs may be greater than is typically associated with the grant of restraining orders, this was a complex and highly contested matter...The Court held six days of hearings involving eight live witnesses, the introduction of scores of exhibits into evidence and extensive oral arguments, including issues of law as well as closing arguments."
Our legal system at work, everyone! Sam worked with Britney during the height of her very public meltdown, and he is suing her and her parents for libel, slander and breach of contract. Radar says his suit will go to trial this fall. Brit's restraining order against him expired on March 17. The hearing for her camp's attorneys' fees is scheduled for June 20.
Wouldn't this all be so much easier if people just respected a polite "Please, leave me alone," instead of having to be legally restrained at a cost of six-figures? No one observes common courtesy anymore!
