The Avengers Set to Steal Dark Knight's Crown

The Avengers will break yet another record this week — it’s about to become the highest-grossing superhero movie domestically, surpassing The Dark Knight, and making it the third-highest grossing movie of all time.
Unless a supervillain invades and destroys all the movie theaters, The Avengers will break the record with ease. It busted through the $500 million mark in just 23 days, which took The Dark Knight a poky 45 days to hit.
So will The Avengers make it to the top? Unlikely — its returns are slowing down, unlike reigning champ Avatar, which stayed solid week to week for ages. And, of course, The Dark Knight has a sequel coming out soon. So Batman may win this thing yet.
