The Hunger Games, The Trouble with Bliss, The Raid: Redemption: Wetpaint Entertainment's Sexy-Not Sexy Weekend Movie Guide, 3/23
The Hunger Games opens everywhere Friday, March 23, so we know exactly how we’re going to kick off the weekend. Here's the scoop on spring’s most highly anticipated movie — as well as two other films hitting theaters tonight.
The Hunger Games
We haven't seen this much excitement for a new movie since the last installment of Twilight. Set in the distant future, this flick revolves around a televised competition in which one girl and one boy from each of the 12 districts of what was once North America are chosen at random to fight to the death... literally.
Sexy: Liam Hemsworth... yum
Not sexy: Children killing children
Verdict: This is a definite must-see. You'll want to get to the theaters early, unless you enjoy craning your neck in the front row.
The Trouble with Bliss
Morris Bliss (Michael C. Hall) is living the dream in New York City, except by "dream," we mean "reality." In other words, he has no money, no job, and he lives with his widowed father. That's not to say his life is boring — not with a relationship with a precocious 18-year-old (Brie Larson) and a hot neighbor (Lucy Liu) who hits on him ‘round the clock.
Sexy: Dexter, but not a serial murderer
Not sexy: Living with your dad in your mid-30s
Verdict: This charming indie has already snagged a couple Best Picture awards in the festival circuit, and it's a great choice to catch with an artsy pal.
The Raid: Redemption
If you liked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, you'll want to check out this edge-of-your-seat thriller, which reviewers are calling the best action film in decades. A rookie member of an elite special forces team takes over his fallen leader's role, which leads to him fighting a whole lot of people.
Sexy: Exhilarating adrenaline!
Not sexy: Bashing people's heads
Verdict: Isn't it time you let your man pick the movie for a change? True, this one will definitely be a bit on the gory side, but the critics are loving it.
