News broke today that Whitney Houston, the legendary singer known for her incredible vocal talents, has died at the age of 48.
Her publicist, Kristen Foster, reported late Saturday that Whitney had died, with the cause of death and location still to be determined.
Whitney Houston dominated the charts throughout the 1980s and 1990s for her unparalleled vocal talents, becoming one of the best-selling artists in the world. But the last decade saw her star diminish, as drug use damaged her once-powerful voice and impeded her much-lauded comeback in 2009. As recently as yesterday, reports had surfaced that Whitney would be joining next year's cast of The X-Factor.
