Who Is Sam Claflin, the Actor Reportedly Set to Play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire?

On July 17, it was reported that actor Sam Claflin had nabbed the coveted role of Finnick Odair in the highly-anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games, Catching Fire. But just who is the beautiful Brit?

While Sam may be a relative new face for American audiences, the 26-year-old already has quite a few credits to his name. The majority of his early projects are British television series and movies — such as Any Human Heart and United, respectively — but he has steadily been gaining recognition for his work around the world.

In 2011, he played Philip in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and most recently, he portrayed Prince William in Snow White and the Huntsman, opposite Kristen Stewart.

If Claflin has, in fact, been cast as Finnick — a skilled former tribute with a heartbreaking past — it will be his first major role in an American film.
