Celebrity Body Transformation
Celebrity Body Transformation
Celebrity body changes is a tricky subject to cover. On one hand, we can't stop obsessing over how stars get into and fall out of shape. But on the other hand, famous folks have just as much right to go to the gym and get ripped and then sit on their couches and get fat as we do! So we try to toe the line between respecting our Hollywood homegirls and homeboys and rabidly reporting sensational (and sensationalistic) weight gains and losses.
Sometimes, celebs change their bodies for a role. Just ask Christian Bale. He became skeletal for his part in The Machinist before pounding on bulky muscle for Batman Begins. Similarly, Matthew McConaughey looked near death as he filmed Dallas Buyers Club but then worked his way back to his usual toned physique for other roles.
But it's not always a lose-and-then-gain trajectory. Sometime stars put on a lot of weight, only to have to lose it again once their movie is complete. Poor Renee Zellweger has to pile on the pounds every time she films a Bridget Jones installment. Matt Damon became a bit chubby to play The Informant, as did George Clooney for Syriana.
We love work-related body transformations, but if celebs morph for no apparent reason, yeah, we'll report on that, too. We know that we all gripe about the hypocrisy of our weight-obsessed culture before flipping through the tabloids hoping to see love handles like ours.
