Shonda Rhimes got us again with the Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 finale, in which Lexie (Chyler Leigh) dies in the aftermath of an airplane crash that leaves her pinned under the tail of the plane.

As Mark (Eric Dane) tells a dying Lexie that he’s always loved her, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) completely misses her chance to say goodbye to her younger sis. Lexie was literally crushed; we were emotionally crushed.

As a side note, RIP McSteamy.
