Drew Barrymore: Age 15
A movie star at age 7 and clubgoer/drug user at 10, Drew Barrymore had already gone through three stints in rehab by 1991, the year in which she became emancipated from her parents and moved into her own place. The rom-com beauty, who’s now pregnant with her first child with husband Will Kopelman, told 60 Minutes, “I did what I had to do to get [emancipated], which was play by the rules and refigure out my life and disconnect myself from the people I knew and the lifestyle I knew and prove that I was a responsible citizen with a good head on my shoulders.”
Although Drew didn’t sever her family ties completely, she needed the distance to stay sober. Her mom reportedly once used her famous daughter to get into clubs, and her father was simply not around.
Oddly enough, Drew’s emancipation was a case of life imitating art: When she was 9 she played a child who “divorces” her parents in the 1984 movie Irreconcilable Differences.
