Rider Strong: Shawn Hunter
Although Rider Strong, 33, was born with a total porn star name (his parents were hippies), he hasn’t capitalized on it in his post-Boy Meets World years. Instead, the former child star has turned to filmmaking — he’s written and directed three short movies with his brother, Shiloh Strong. One of their projects, The Dungeon Master, took home the prize for Best Short Film at the 2011 Tribeca (Online) Film Festival.
Acting may no longer be Rider’s focus, but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to take roles. He’s guest-starred on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Veronica Mars, Bones, and Castle, and he’s appeared in a handful of forgettable movies — from the indie horror flick Cabin Fever to the 2007 thriller Borderland, a little-known “classic” about three college friends who stumble upon a human-sacrifice cult in Mexico. He recently played a mustachioed killer in the short film Walter Don’t Dance, produced by his actress girlfriend Alexandra Barreto (whom he met on the set of the short-lived WB series Pepper Dennis).
For all of you ladies who crushed on bad-boy Shawn Hunter, sorry for that bit of sad news.
A boy genius like co-star Ben Savage, Rider graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University in 2004 with a degree in English. He got his MFA in June 2009 at Bennington College.
