Vera and Taissa Farmiga: American Success Story
She’s made crazy strides in the span of a single year, but Taissa Farmiga still has a long way to go to fill her older sister’s shoes. Twenty-one years Taissa’s senior (Taissa is the youngest of seven), Vera has already made it big in the biz, standing out in movies like The Departed, Source Code, and Up in the Air, for which she earned a 2010 Oscar nomination. Taissa had no desire to follow in Vera’s footsteps until Vera pushed her to play the teenage version of her character in her 2011 directorial debut, Higher Ground. “I never thought about acting before then,” Taissa told Interview magazine. “I was 15 years old, so I had no idea what I wanted to do. I was sort of thinking about colleges and stuff.”
After collecting glowing reviews for her performance, Taissa suddenly found herself starring opposite Jessica Lange, Connie Britton, and Dylan McDermott on American Horror Story. Her character, Violet Harmon, didn’t survive Season 1 (pretty much no one did, let’s be honest), but we predict great things for this precocious 18-year-old.
