Matthew Nolan, Older Brother of Christopher Nolan
The life of The Dark Knight director (pictured) Christopher’s older brother is ripe for a cinematic adaptation. In March 2009, the FBI arrested Matthew in Chicago on suspicion of his involvement in a kidnapping-murder plot.
According to E! Online, he and accomplice Douglas Mejia held victim Robert Cohen hostage in Costa Rica, hoping to snag the $7 million Robert owed to an associate. When the money never materialized, Robert was killed. But while Douglas was convicted for the crime and sentenced to jail time, Matthew returned to the U.S.
At the time of his arrest, Matthew was also being investigated for his alleged involvement in a $700,000 bank fraud scandal.
