The Cast of Roswell: Where Are They Now? (PHOTOS)

William Sadler’s not just a well-known actor in Hollywood, he’s made a serious name for himself in the world of theater as well. In his mid-20s, he embarked on a 12-year stint in NYC, acting in over 75 productions.

Before landing his role as Sheriff Jim Valenti on Roswell, William appeared on many TV shows — from Newhart to Roseanne to Murphy Brown. He portrayed Colonel Stuart in Die Hard 2, Heywood in The Shawshank Redemption, and Klaus Detterick in The Green Mile.

Although William has continued to work on TV and in movies since the end of Roswell, he’s also found his way back to Broadway. In 2005, he portrayed Julius Caesar opposite Denzel Washington’s Brutus, and in 2009, the Doctor alongside Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon in Exit the King. You can catch Bill on the big screen as Sal Kennedy in 2013’s Iron Man 3.

William has been married to his wife, actress Marni Joan Bakst, since 1977. They have one child.

Fun Fact: William has played the father of Shia LaBeouf in two different films: The Battle of Shaker Heights (2003) and Eagle Eye (2008).
