Premise: Technically a two-hour special, the concept is simple: 50 women compete for the chance to become multi-millionaire Rick Rockwell’s wife. They never get to meet — or even see — the guy, and they wear wedding dresses in preparation for the immediate matrimony.

What Went Wrong: Morally, the show was attacked for perpetuating the stereotype that women marry for money. As for its star, reports surfaced that Rick already had a restraining order against him by a former girlfriend who claimed he was abusive. Also, he wasn’t exactly a multi-millionaire, having only $750,000 in liquid assets. Rumor has it he and his “winner,” Darva Conger, never consummated the marriage.
