British Actor Freddie Highmore Will Play Norman Bates on Bates Motel
More boyish than menacing, 20-year-old English actor Freddie Highmore has signed on to play a young Norman Bates on A&E’s 2013 series Bates Motel. It’s a major departure from his roles opposite Johnny Depp in the family-friendly fare Finding Neverland (2004) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).
Vera Farmiga is sure to steal scenes as his mother, Norma Louise Bates (in her pre-skeleton days).
No word yet on whether they’ve cast the infamous cutlery.
