Shortly after then-sitcom star Ellen DeGeneres (Ellen) came out on The Oprah Winfrey Show, her character, Ellen Morgan, did as well... to a therapist played by none other than Oprah. The memorable episode scored some of the series’ highest ratings, and the sitcom landed a place in history as the first to have a gay character as its lead.
