Emma Stone’s Real Name Is Emily Jean Stone
So it’s not a massive leap from “Emily” to “Emma,” but it’s hard to imagine ever referring to the adorable A-lister as “Emily Stone.”
When Emma was first getting into the business at age 16, she needed to settle on a unique stage name since “Emily Stone” was already taken.
“I hadn't done anything yet, so I was like, ‘I can be whatever I want to be. What name do I want to have?’ So I went through a list of names and picked Riley,” she tells Interview magazine. “But then I had an identity crisis pretty much right after because I had a guest part on Malcolm in the Middle, and everyone kept on yelling, ‘Riley!’ and I didn't know who they were talking to.”
In the end, she settled on Emma, “which my mom always called me,” she adds.
We approve.
