In Hollywood, as a rule, everything old is made new again. And, since Disney hasn't touched The Wizard of Oz since Fairuza Balk's dark turn as Dorothy in 1985's mildly disturbing Return to Oz, L. Frank Baums flying monkey-filled world was due another visit.
So we give you the first trailer for Oz: The Great and Powerful, a star-studded, effects-laden fantasy starring James Franco as Oz, Mila Kunis as Theodora, Michelle Williams as Glinda, and Rachel Weisz as evil Evanora. With a roster like that, how could it go wrong?
Casting Michelle as Glinda was a stroke of genius; her blond hair, fair skin, and sympathetic gaze has "ethereal" written all over it. And she gets to wear pretty dresses to boot.
