J.K. Rowling Shares New Harry Potter Story — With Song!

Did we nod off and wake up in 2005, because J. K. Rowling’s publishing Harry Potter story after Harry Potter story and it has our hearts pitter-pattering as fast as a Snitch! The U.K. author released another new short story today (August 18) and this one even has its own song. Maybe all of our practice casting spells is finally paying off!

The author shared her latest work with NBC’s Today; the story and single are also available on Pottermore.com, aka our second home. There you can learn all about Celestina Warbeck, whom J.K. calls one of her “favorite ‘off-stage’ characters in the Harry Potter series.”

For those out there who don’t always wear a cape under their Muggle clothes, Celestina’s an alumna of Gryffindor who could “drown out a chorus of banshees,” thus earning her nickname the Singing Sorceress.

“Although we never lay eyes on Celestina during the whole seven volumes of the Potter books, I always imagined her to resemble Shirley Bassey in both looks and style,” J.K. says of the character, referencing the acclaimed Welsh songstress who, among other projects, lent her voice to James Bond films like Goldfinger.

Hear Celestina’s voice take wing in the video below! Then talk to our inner wizard by discussing all things Harry Potter in the comments.
