Hip-hop’s ruling family sure held its place on the throne during last night’s 12th annual BET Awards in Los Angeles. Sitting prominently in the front row, Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé were the show’s big winners, taking home a total of four statuettes.

Jay-Z’s buddy and collaborator, Kanye West, also seemed to thrive in the spotlight throughout last night's festivities. Dressed in white from head-to-toe, the rapper kicked off the show with a lively performance of his new single “Mercy” and then spent the rest of the occassion cuddled up to camera-happy girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

Hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, the ceremony also included a lengthy tribute to Whitney Houston which featured performances from Monica, Brandy, Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston, and Chaka Khan.
