Jason Collins made national news when he came out as a gay man in late April, but he’s already getting lots of support from his fellow celebs.
Former ‘N SYNC member Lance Bass, who came out in 2006, was recently spotted hanging out with the basketball star in LA, and was happy to voice his support for Jason.
“I think it’s great,” he told TMZ of Jason’s decision to be open about his sexuality. “I think it’s amazing that someone can be themselves, finally.”
When asked if he had any impact in Jason’s decision to come out, Lance stated, “He helped himself.”
While some fellow athletes have already expressed closed-minded sentiments about Jason coming out, the b-ball star is confident about making his sexuality public knowledge.
Jason added that his advice for others thinking of following in his footsteps is simple: “Just be yourself. Try to live your life honestly and be yourself. It will lead to a happier life.”
