Jennifer Aniston’s “Rachel” ‘do on Friends may have been the haircut that inspired a thousand snips, but it seems like the guy behind the cut wasn’t 100% present when he created it the look that changed the ‘90s.
In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Jennifer’s longtime friend and business partner, Chris Anderson, reveals that he gave her the short, layered look while he was high, back in 1994.
“I’m 14 years sober, so I feel safe enough to say that,” he reveals.
While Jennifer and Chris are both in a good place these days and working together on the Living Proof line of hair care products, back at the height of her fame, there may have been some resentment between the two.
In 2001, Aniston came clean about the haircut that made her a star, telling Allure, “Let's say there have been moments I'd rather not relive, like that whole Rachel thing. I love Chris [McMillan, her hairstylist], and he's the bane of my existence at the same time because he started that damn Rachel, which was not my best look. How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I've ever seen.”
Luckily, it seems the pair are forgiving of both harsh haircuts and harsh words.
