Giuliana Rancic certainly knows what Angelina Jolie has been through, and now she is offering her support.
The E! News anchor — who herself underwent a double mastectomy just over a year ago — shares a letter with E! Online addressing Angelina's difficult decision to reduce her risk of breast cancer.
"It will not define her, but it will change her," Giuliana says of Angie's procedure.
"It will make her life fuller knowing that she doesn't have to look over her shoulder like she did when she had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer," she continues. "She will feel even more courageous knowing that she took her health into her own hands and took that astronomically high risk down considerably."
"This surgery will not make her feel less of a woman but even more of a woman and a warrior," Giuliana adds. "And her day-to-day life won't change, either. She will go on to make movies, be a loving mom and partner, and continue her international aid work."
Giuliana is also glad that Angelina is sharing this information, as Giuliana hopes more women will do whatever they can to prevent cancer.
"The fact that she is one of the most private stars in Hollywood, yet she has decided to go public with this incredibly personal story, demonstrates how important it is to shine the spotlight on the importance of breast and ovarian cancer prevention," she says.
Giuliana says that Angelina's letter "brought me back to my own double mastectomy," but instead of tearing up as she normally does when reliving her battle with breast cancer, she "smiled and let out a sigh of relief" that Angelina was helping other women take control of their lives.
We're proud of both Angelina and Giuliana for being so open!
