Laila Ali is back in fighting form — and then some.
The retired boxer — and daughter of legend Muhammad Ali — is back in a bikini and looking better than ever.
Laila, mom to CJ, 4, and Sydney, 2, with her retired NFL star husband Curtis Conway, tells People that her plan for getting back into shape after giving birth to her second child was all about implementing tried-and-true methods, not gimmicks.
“The second time around I knew what to expect so I was a little easier on myself,” she says. “Once I saw that you just have to eat right and exercise that’s what I did and it worked.”
While she’s showing off her body in her first-ever bikini shoot for the magazine, she admits that wearing next-to-nothing is not her most comfortable state.
“I’m kind of shy, I’m not one of those people whose comfortable walking around with my butt out. But I had a baby, I got my weight down and I’m always talking about fitness and health. It’s time to show people what I’m working with.”
As for the meal plan that got her into such killer shape, Laila says it’s all about moderation.
“It’s what you do 90 percent of the time that matters,” says Laila. “I’m not really into junk food, but I like to have a cheat day no matter what, usually on the weekend. I might have pizza, frozen yogurt or a brownie.”
While she’s looking trimmer than ever, Laila admits that the weight didn’t just fall off on its own. “I’m naturally a big girl,” she says. “I have to work to be fit. I love running. I run three times a week and I do strength training and weights. And sometimes I throw a little spinning in there... It’s my time for myself. I need to get it in.”
