Michael Douglas is providing new info about his recent bout with throat cancer — and it might be more info than we want to know.
The Behind the Candelabra star was asked recently by The Guardian whether he thinks his throat cancer was caused by drinking and smoking.
"No," the 68-year-old acting legend responds. "Because without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV [human papillomavirus], which actually comes about from cunnilingus."
Say what? So Michael Douglas got cancer from oral sex? We've never been more fasinated and grossed-out at the same time.
"I did worry if the stress caused by my son's incarceration didn't help trigger it," he adds, referring to his son Cameron's current prison sentence for drug charges. "But yeah, it's a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. And if you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it." Duly noted.
Michael, who has been married to Catherine Zeta-Jones since 2000, was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010 and has since been declared cancer-free.
However, the actor's rep has issued a clarification of sorts.
"Michael Douglas did not say cunnilingus was the cause of his cancer," his rep says. "It was discussed that oral sex is a suspected cause of certain oral cancers as doctors in the article point out, but he did not say it was the specific cause of his personal cancer."
On a side note: If we never have to write the word "cunnilingus" in another article ever again, it will be too soon.
