It's a little down to the wire, but the word is finally in — just 10 days before the Season 5 finale! Showtime has renewed its increasingly-popular dark comedy, Nurse Jackie.

The show stars Edie Falco as a strong-willed emergency room nurse.

Deadline reports that Showtime Entertainment President David Nevins is excited to bring the show back with a new showrunner: “Under the new leadership of Clyde Phillips, and with an amazing cast led by Edie Falco, this show is as sharp and compelling and entertaining as ever. I’m excited to get to see the next chapter in Jackie’s life.” So are we, David! So are we.

Of course, not all Showtime properties are coming back. Most famously, the serial-killer-killing-serial-killer drama Dexter draws to a close this year with its 8th season.

That must be a relief for the show's fans! Did any of your favorite shows get canceled for next season? Any close calls?
