The darkest timeline is coming to an end!

In news that has to be considered almost as exciting as getting six seasons and a movie, Community fans will surely rejoice in knowing that creator Dan Harmon is officially back to run the show for its upcoming Season 5, according to EW.

Dan had been teasing the news for the past few weeks, and his return was made official by Sony TV on June 10.

Dan left Community unceremoniously in May 2012 amid issues with co-star Chevy Chase, struggling ratings, and a reputation for handing in scripts at the last minute. He was replaced as showrunner for Season 4 by David Guarascio and Moses Port.

Also returning as an executive producer is the show's former writer/producer Chris McKenna. Last season, Chris worked on Fox's The Mindy Project.

Chevy Chase is no longer with the show, having left partway through Season 4.

Some fans and critics felt that the show's scripts didn't quite retain the usual magic last season.

Frankly, we're thrilled about this news. It's time to celebrate with a 21-(paintball) gun salute!
