As rabid Boy Meets World fans growing up (Shawn Hunter, you have our numbers, right?), we are so, so excited for Girl Meets World.

E! Online was able to speak with Ben Savage, who played the Boy, Cory Matthews, about the upcoming sequel at ATX Television Festival. While he says they’re “not trying to do a Boy Meets World reunion,” they’re trying to work some things out for the old-school fans!

"That's been the struggle and that's been the challenge, to try and make sure the show honors what it was, but also appeals to a new generation," Ben told E!, "We want to make sure we can do both because we're not trying to do a reunion of Boy Meets World. Boys Meets World meant a lot to a lot of people growing up and we want to give that to a new generation."

“It’s a little eerie” seeing the titular girl, Riley (played by Rowan Blanchard), go through what Corey went through during the original series. “But it’s also very comforting and very sweet.”

He adds that “Topanga is an excellent parent.” Please, Topanga had a level of responsibility required for parenting straight out of the womb!

As for guest stars from the original series, Ben says that “all of them were a big part of the show and we’d love to see all of them come back,” but “nothing’s been finalized.”

We can barely contain our excitement! Are you going to watch Girl Meets World?
