The first rule of getting slammed by a celebrity is you
don't talk about it take the high road. At least, that's the rule Brad Pitt is following.
Rocker Melissa Etheridge — herself a breast cancer survivor — referred to Angelina Jolie's decision to get a double mastectomy as "fearful," and now Brad Pitt is responding.
When he was asked on June 17 on the red carpet how he felt about Melissa's comments, he had apparently just found out about what Melissa had said.
"I don't know," Brad said. "Somebody just said that."
"Melissa's an old friend of mine," he adds. "I'm sure we'll talk on the phone. I don't know what it is."
Melissa, 52, said in an interview that she herself has the same gene mutation, and she thinks Angelina's decision to have a double mastectomy is "the most fearful choice." She says cancer comes from "stress" and "has to do with the environment of your body."
"I've been cancer free for nine years now and looking back, I completely understand why I got cancer," Melissa adds. "There was so much acidity in everything."
It's interesting that Melissa would call out Angie publicly, given that she and Brad go way back. Melissa even performed at his 2000 wedding to Jennifer Aniston.
But we're proud of Brad for not stirring the pot and promising to handle the situation privately.
We're also guessing that Angelina and Brad won't be coming to Melissa's window anytime soon.
