Sad news for hip hop fans! Louisiana-based rapper Lil Snupe has died, reportedly after being shot earlier this week. The 18-year-old artist had just signed to rapper and hip hop impresario Meek Mill's Dream Chasers Records earlier this year.

UPDATE: Lil Snupe's suspected shooter, Tony Holden, 36, has turned himself in, reports RumorFix. He was booked on charges of first degree murder, armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Earlier: KNOE news in Louisiana confirms that Lil Snoop has been shot and killed. According to their report, "Winnfield [Louisiana] Police say 18-year-old Addarren Ross (known as rapper Lil Snupe) was killed just after 4:00 a.m. at an apartment [...] he was visiting in Winnfield."

Police also say there were two bullet wounds, and that while they're not ready to release any more information about the crime, they do have a suspect.

Earlier: At first, shaky confirmation was obtained Twitter condolences, first from his manager, leem7st: "The call I got this morning is un real RIP 2 my Lil n**** lilsnupe."

Meek followed suit later: "R.I.P 2 my lil fucking n**** #lilsnupe I tried everything in my power 2 get that kid out of the streets!"

Rumors started last night when Meek Mill sent a cryptic, concerned tweet: "tell lil snupe to hit me up right now!!!"

Meek had taken Snupe on as a protege; he reportedly signed Snupe only 20 minutes after hearing his demo. He performed with Meek on his Dreams Come True tour in April.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends. We'll keep you updated as more details are confirmed.
