This jewelry company is about to find out who Reese Witherspoon is.
According to TMZ, the Oscar winner recently filed a lawsuit against the company that runs the jewelry website Emitations.com, alleging it exploited her name and face to sell items, including a knockoff of her engagement ring.
You can see an Emitations ad here, featuring an old photo of Reese flashing a ring. Apparently Reese never gave permission for the company to use her image to promote the jewelry, so she's suing for unspecified amounts of money.
If you check out the Emitations site, there are other celebs featured, and a disclaimer at the bottom of the page reads, "The celebrities pictured on Emitations.com do not sponsor or endorse the products sold on Emitations.com and are not associated or affiliated with Emitations.com. Emitations.com's use of the celebrities pictured are for informational purposes only, in order to demonstrate the similarity of Emitations.com's products with those worn by celebrities."
Think that will cover them?
