He started out as the token “bad boy” on Laguna Beach who toyed with the ladies’ hearts, but Jason Wahler quickly rose to stardom on the MTV reality spinoff show The Hills. Now Jason’s speaking out about his multiple suicide attempts in InTouch Magazine.

“I tried taking my life multiple times,” Jason revealed to the publication’s new issue. “About four years ago, I took more than 10 Antabuse [disulfiram pills, which can reduce the desire to drink] and was rushed to the hospital. It should’ve killed me.”

In The Hills’  first few seasons, Jason had a main role as Lauren Conrad’s boyfriend who, behind the scenes, was struggling with substance abuse. The reality starlet infamously gave up the opportunity to work in Paris for the summer with Teen Vogue to be with Jason, but they ultimately broke up when his problem quickly escalated.

In 2010 Jason starred on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab and is now three years sober. In 2011 Jason publicly apologized to Lauren Conrad via People Magazine.

"I wanted to make amends with Lauren," he said. "She was a big part of my life, and there's stuff that happened in the past with my drunken ways that I needed to address."

These days Jason is a substance abuse counselor in Laguna Beach, Calif., and is engaged to model Ashley Slack. He seems to have his life back on track and is dedicated to helping others do the same.
