Prepare to go through Damian Lewis withdrawal!
Homeland Season 3 premieres September 29 at 9 p.m. on Showtime. It’s picking up during the aftermath of the terror attack on Season 2, including a global manhunt for "terrorist" Nick Brody (Damian).
The producers shared some major details at the Television Critics Association panel (via TheWrap), including that Brody will be missing from the show for (at least) the first two episodes. His presence will still be strongly felt by Carrie (Claire Danes), his wife, the intelligence community, and especially his (annoying) daughter Dana.
"He's disappeared into a tunnel and exfiltration system that Carrie has affected," Damian said. "He is the most-wanted criminal in the world at this point. ... Is he hidden away or is he lost? I hope that when you do see Brody for the first time it will be interesting." (It looks like he’ll be bald when we do see him.)
Claire, who is partway through filming the season, added, "I miss my acting buddies, because Carrie's been in isolation for a good chunk of this season. And it's only now that she's started to team up with the more familiar characters."
Over at TVLine, the Homeland episode teases are more cryptic. Here’s their answer to a spoiler request:
"Let’s play a game. I’ll throw some literal data your way from the first two episodes (both of which I’ve seen and thoroughly enjoyed) and you have to decipher the meaning. All of the following figures are referenced multiple times throughout the first two hours. Ready, set, translate:
* 219 People
* 14 hours
* 6 miles"
Were 219 people killed by the Season 2 explosion? Maybe Brody has been missing for 14 hours, last seen 6 miles from the scene ... or something?
