On August 5, Voice coach Usher and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, had a close call when their 5-year-old son, Usher Raymond V, was in a serious pool accident at the singer’s home. The little boy seems to be making a complete recovery, as Tameka posted a photo of her cuddling URV in his hospital room.
“My favorite 5 year old. What a blessing! I have always loved and appreciated my sons but tragedies and close calls make this even more evident,” the Tameka captioned the photo on August 8, adding “URV had an angel named Kile Ishmael and our Lord and true savior to look after him. Words cannot express the relief and how thankful to God I truly am. Thank you Jehovah God, Jesus and Kile...also The AV worker that saved my son is my Hero!!! Period.”
Tameka gave an update via Twitter earlier that morning to let supporters know that their son was doing well.
“Im very happy this morning, my son is resting well... we had a SpongeBob marathon ALLL night, he wouldn't go to sleep! Thank u 4 the prayers,” she tweeted.
According to TMZ, the eldest of the Usher’s sons with Tameka had a lot of water in his lungs and “underwent some form of resuscitation” after getting his arm caught in the pool drain. The “Burn” singer’s aunt and maid were unable to remove the child, but two workers, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews, dove in and rescued the boy.
The Voice coach was not home at the time, which has prompted Tameka to request an emergency custody hearing to strip Usher of his primary guardianship awarded August 2012. The hearing was granted and scheduled for August 9.
This is Tameka’s second child to have a water-related accident — Tameka’s eldest son Kile Glover died July 2012 after being taken off life support following a tragic jet ski accident that left the 11-year-old brain dead.
