Nothing says “we’re back together” like performing your very own power couple song! At least that seems to be the thinking behind Katy Perry and John Mayer’s latest venture.
The duo of famous singers reunited earlier this summer (sorry, not sorry, RPattz) and they want the world to know just how happy they are. Cue the unification of lyrical forces that is “Who You Love.”
The little number, which features John’s trademark laidback twangy vibe and a subdued vocal from Power Ballad Perry, discusses a couple facing issues the duo know all too well. The girl — let’s call her Katy — fell for a bad boy whose “heart’s too hard to hold,” while the boy — aka John — met a girl from whom he “tried to run” but, don’t worry, he’s “not running anymore.”
Is this diary entry set to music proof that John will finally put his romance marauder days behind him and settle down with his California Gurl? Her body, after all, is a wonderland.
“Who You Love” (aka John and Katy’s future wedding song) will appear on John’s latest album, Paradise Valley, due out later this month on August 20 while Katy’s album, Prism, won’t hit shelves until October 22. Time to start uploading those iTunes gift cards. In the meantime, listen to the song here.
