It’s a given that in a superhero-esque show, like the upcoming Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., there’s going to be a certain element of the supernatural. So, when we heard that Ian Hart was joining the cast, we weren’t surprised. After all, the nerdiest among us were instantly reminded of Ian’s dark turn as Professor Quirrell in the first installment of Harry Potter.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Ian will be part of the ABC cast when the highly-anticipated series hits the airwaves. What will his role be? It’s unclear, but according to the unwritten role of the show, “all super-powers introduced... must be explained by science — not magic or supernatural forces.”

Hmm, guess those HP skills aren’t going to come in much use, since Ian’s big screen role was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who was secretly working for Voldemort. The Liverpool-born actor has also starred on TV shows Bates Motel, Luck, and Dirt, so this is certainly not his first foray into the small screen.

Casting rumors and surprises have been coming out in spades, though most of the characters’ roles are still completely shrouded in mystery. One thing we do know? Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be premiering on ABC on Tuesday, September 24.
