Lindsay Lohan has had some career hits, misses, and real WTF moments — I Know Who Killed Me, anyone? — but she's well on her way to getting things back on track, thanks to some high-profile projects on the horizon.
TMZ reports that the Canyons star, who is looking better than ever since completing her treatment for substance abuse issues at a Malibu rehab center, has just signed on for a guest role on HBO hit Eastbound and Down.
Lindsay will play the grown-up version of protagonist Kenny Powers' illegitimate daughter, who was introduced in season three.
While it's unclear if Lindsay will be starring in a single episode or if her storyline will land her a spot in multiple shows, she's reportedly currently on set in North Carolina filming her scenes with the cast.
Although her recent project The Canyons was generally panned by critics (and everyone else, for that matter), Lindsay seems to be getting her career back on track post-rehab. She's set to star in an eight-part reality miniseries for Oprah's OWN network chronicling her career rejuvenation, and nobody's reported her locking herself in any closets or crashing her car on the Eastbound and Down set… yet.
Perhaps that career advice Ben Affleck gave the troubled star is kicking in. The Oscar winner sought treatment for alcohol addiction in 2001, and he reportedly met with Lindsay while she was in rehab in Malibu. Reminding her that she’s a talented actress, Ben let her know that Hollywood shows a lot of support for recovering addicts. Lindsay’s new role certainly proves him right.
Hopefully the part gets Lindsay back on track with her acting and gives her a good reason to cut back on the late-night partying. That way she can star in the Mean Girls sequel of our dreams.
The fourth and final season of Eastbound and Down premieres on September 29.
