Because there's no majoring in "being a child actress" or "Saturday Night Live," a ton of stars had some seriously solid backup plans — and many of them are really impressive.
Since the beginning of school is just around the corner, let's take a look at the hard-earned degrees that your favorite stars have. Some even still use them!

Mayim Bialik: Doctorate in Neuroscience, UCLA
If you don't watch The Big Bang Theory, you may know Mayim Bialik best as the title character on the early '90s series Blossom. But acting isn't her only gig!
Mayim earned her doctorate in neuroscience from UCLA in 2007, and works heavily in parent-child bonding. You could even say she wrote the book on child bonding: her book, Beyond the Sling, came out last year.
Will Ferrell: Bachelor in Sports Broadcasting, University of Southern California
Before Will Ferrell became the funnyman that would land him a role on Saturday Night Live and a subsequent super-successful movie career, Will studied sports journalism at University of Southern California, Los Angeles! He actually worked in sports broadcasting after graduating in 1990, but switched things up when he realized he "really didn't care about reporting."
"It was very Ron Burgundy-esque," he continued, "I didn't care about getting a news story or anything like that. And I thought, those aren't good instincts to have if you want to become a journalist."
Eva Longoria: Bachelor in Kinesiology, Texas A&M; Master in Chicano Studies, California State University
Before she made it big on Desperate Housewives, Eva earned her Bachelor of Science at Texas A&M, which partially explains how she manages to stay so fit.
After she was already famous, she earned her masters degree at California State in a subject pretty close to her: Chicana and Chicano Studies, "an Area Studies field that advances a critical understanding of the Chicana/o and Latina/o experience in the United States."

Lisa Kudrow: Bachelor in Psychobiology, Vassar College
Friends star Lisa Kudrow was all set to be a researcher in Los Angeles until her brother's friend Jon Lovitz convinced her to get into improv. She joined up with renowned theatre and school The Groundlings, met Conan O'Brien, and the rest is history. Can you imagine anyone else playing Phoebe (or Ursula)?

Ashton Kutcher: Bachelor in Biochemical Engineering, University of Iowa
The world would've been a much different place if Ashton Kutcher had stayed in Iowa!
While he'd been acting since high school, it wasn't until after he'd earned his Bachelor of Science that he won the Fresh Faces of Iowa contest and headed, like many fresh-faced young men do, to New York.
Ashley Judd: Bachelor in French, University of Kentucky; Master in Public Administration, Harvard
“I didn’t go to Harvard Kennedy School to be approved of by anyone," Ashley Judd told the New York Times right around when she graduated with her master's degree, "but to immerse myself in some very serious, earnest, practical learning with people who have literally dedicated all they have to public service.”
Ashley almost put that degree to some highly visible use, too! After seriously considering a senate campaign in 2008, she decided that right then wasn't the right time.
Before getting her master's degree, Ashley graduated with honors from University of Kentucky with a French major, along with a whopping four minors.
