UPDATE: She was voted out. After Aaryn was evicted on the Week 9 live show (Thursday, August 29), Julie Chen brought up her racist comments from early in the season. Aaryn said, "Being Southern is a stereotype, and I have said some things that have been taken completely out of context and wrong and I do not mean to ever come off racist. That's not me and I apologize to anyone I've offended for that." You could hear people in the crowd scoffing.

Julie played back some of her worst comments, and Aaryn tried to defend herself. "I do not remember saying those things," she said, as people openly guffawed. She hates the idea that people think she's a racist. She probably shouldn't have tried to make it seem like it was a Texas thing. There are probably a lot of people in Texas who would rather distance themselves from her comments! (Watch her interview in the video below.)

Original story:

It’s coming. It may be coming tomorrow. The moment many Big Brother 15 viewers have been waiting for — Aaryn Gries’s awkward post-elimination talk with Julie Chen.

Early in the season, Aaryn was under the spotlight for her racially insensitive comments, including saying Asian-American houseguest Helen Kim should shut up and go make some rice. Julie said she took the comments personally, and even though the nasty talk didn’t just come from Aaryn (her buddy GinaMarie Zimmerman was, if anything, worse), the Texas queen lost her modeling contract outside the show and basically became the scapegoat for most of the racism this season.

At this point, it looks like Aaryn is going to the jury on Week 9’s live show, which will air tomorrow, Thursday, August 29, at 9 p.m. on CBS. She’s on the block next to Andy Herren, who is only there because — how?! — Amanda Zuckerman managed to pull out a surprise Power of Veto win that saved both McCrae Olson and herself. Aaryn was Head of Household Elissa Slater’s original target, for better or worse. (Should’ve just targeted Amanda vs. McCrae right at the nomination ceremony. Or would that ruin the whole this season is rigged for Amanda plan?)

Andy just made himself a new alliance with GinaMarie, Spencer Clawson, and Judd Daugherty, and they’re calling themselves The Exterminators. So he’s pretty well protected at this point, as long as that new alliance stands by him,and McCranda stays loyal. Everyone seems resigned to seeing Aaryn leave, so it’s really just all of her bad calls catching up to her. Helen may have cheered that Aaryn was even “better than Janelle” but Janelle countered that Aaryn is a puppet. It’s true. Aaryn is starting to realize that she backed the wrong horse in 3AM/McCranda. Andy is on the block with her and McCranda is siding with him, since they’ve been with him longer. Should’ve stayed with Helen, girl.

If Aaryn does leave, will you be sorry to see her go? She was a challenge beast, winning four HoHs and a POV. She was on the block twice early in the season and managed to save herself long after Jeremy McGuire and Kaitlin Barnaby, even though she was arguably a bigger target.

She showed glimpses of humanity underneath the Mean Girl snaps, seeming to regret her early season immaturity. But every so often she’d go back to playing the victim and she'd seem even younger than her 22 years (she’s the youngest houseguest this season). It’s going to be interesting to see how viewers treat her after the September 18 finale, when she re-enters the real world. People tend to have short memories.
