Talk about your May-December romances! Dakota Fanning is soon to premiere her latest film, The Last of Robin Hood, at the Toronto International Film Festival — and there’s a huge age difference between the 19-year-old actress and her onscreen love interest. Like, we’re talking a 46-year gap.

In the indie flick, which focuses on the last years of silver screen idol Errol Flynn’s life, Dakota plays his would-be child bride, 15-year-old Beverly Aadland. Before they could marry, the 50-year-old film legend died of a heart attack after a long battle with alcoholism.

At 65, Kevin is obviously several years older than his character, but we’ll chalk that up to the fact that he’s probably much better preserved than the hard-living Errol was in his final years. While the casting is not out of line with the film’s content, it’s always a little shocking when actors two-plus generations apart have to play out a romantic relationship!

Of course, Dakota isn’t exactly a stranger to controversial film roles. At 13, she starred in Hounddog, which featured a disturbing rape scene that upset critics, given Dakota’s young age at the time of filming. At least this time she’s legal, right?
