Talk about taking your career into your own hands. For his 2008 film Little Ashes, Robert Pattinson revealed that he, how do we say, pleasured himself while cameras rolled. Faking masturbation on camera “just doesn’t work,” he helpfully added.
In the little-known biopic, Rob plays famous surrealist painter Salvador Dalí. Beyond really getting to know himself (ifyaknowwhatwemean), Rob also pushed his professional boundaries for his love scenes with fellow actor Javier Beltrán, who portrayed the Spanish artist Federico García Lorca.
“It was mortifying,” Rob told E! News of the movie’s pivotal sex scene (snippets of which you can see in the trailer below). "We were all hanging out by the pool, trying to loosen up. I was nervously clinging to the edge — and before I could turn around, the Spaniard was already naked."
Somehow what sounds like a defining movie in Robert’s acting career (and sex life) got lost amid the hubbub of Twilight hysteria, which hit theaters that same year.
Well, lost until the now-27-year-old Rob decided to mention the topic himself.
“If you Google about something long enough you will know everything there is to know about me: what I eat, what my poop looks like, with whom I’m sleeping, even what I look like when I masturbate,” he told Germany’s Interview magazine via Hollywood Life.
The result? “My orgasm face is recorded for eternity,” Rob says. And future generations thank you for that, R-Patz.
