Ashley Tisdale may be partying with Vanessa Hudgens and their Inner Circle in Los Angeles now, but she was born and bred in New York City. Now that one of the biggest milestones in her life — getting engaged to boyfriend Christopher French — happened atop the Empire State Building, does she plan to tie the knot in the Big Apple, too?

When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Ashley at the E! Fashion Police taping and Benefit Cosmetics "They're REAL-volutionary" Awards (where she won the "Breaking Blonde" award!) on September 4, she dished about deciding where to get married, early planning, her dream dress, and what made her proposal “super magical.”

Read on to see what the former High School Musical starlet revealed, then hit the comments with your congratulations!

Wetpaint Entertainment: You got engaged in New York, but you live in L.A. Do you have more NYC-centric memories after your Empire State Building proposal?

Ashley Tisdale: Oh my gosh, I think New York is like super magical and I love it a whole lot more now. And I didn’t think I could love New York as much, but I was just like, “Oh my gosh, this is crazy!” I grew up in New York, so I guess I kind of take it for granted a little bit, but now I’m like, “I love New York!”

And now you have the best memory of your life here.

Some of the best memories. There have definitely been a lot of great memories here.

Are you planning on getting married in California or in New York since you grew up here?

I don’t know yet! I haven’t really figured it out. I’m still like, “Holy s—, I’m engaged! That’s awesome!” I just want to enjoy it and don’t want to rush anything because I’ve always dreamt about my wedding day, so it’s going to take a lot of planning. I’m just taking my time with it and not stressing.

Do you have your perfect dress in mind after watching shows like Say Yes to the Dress, or did you just dream about it a lot as a kid?

I mean, I don’t know what type of dress yet. I’m still struggling with that one because there are so many different types. I think it obviously depends on where it is — that sets what it looks like.

Is there a dream season when you want to get married? Summer? Fall?

I don’t really have a preference, honestly. I just want to be able to take my time.

You have a boho chic style. Will you be going for something simple, do you think?

Yes, but the wedding is like... the wedding. It’s one day! So who knows!
